Deep in color, this luscious wine features heightened aromatics of dark red fruit, new leather, exotic spices and licorice.

Winemaker Camille Benitah produced our 2009 Handmade Cabernet Sauvignon from a selection of barrels that captured intensity and elegance of the Coombsville AVA. Deep in color, this luscious wine features heightened aromatics of dark red fruit, new leather, exotic spices and licorice. It is amazingly rich and concentrated on the palate with traces of soft tannins in the finish.
Winemaker Notes
Even with all its ups and downs, 2009 ultimately turned out to be an exceptional vintage for the Coombsville AVA in Napa Valley. Overall, the season was mild and steady with the exception of a heavy rainstorm in October. Fortunately, the Cabernet clusters were loosely packed and once the rain cleared, the dry fruit was harvested clean and in great shape. Because we had no real heat spikes, the fruit possessed phenolic maturity and ripeness without excessive sugar.

Production Notes
Produced by guest winemaker Camille Benitah of Merus, our Handmade 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon comes entirely from a select group of sites in the Coombsville region of Napa. Recently granted AVA status, this cool, hilly region is located east of the town of Napa and north of San Pablo Bay. After a cold pre-soak and fermentation, the wine spent a total of 27 months in 100% new French oak barrels. It was bottled unfiltered to preserve the integrity of the fruit.
