Chalk Hill Shines in Wine Advocate Sonoma County Tasting

May 2, 2019

Wine Advocate has recognized Chalk Hill’s commitment to exceptional winemaking as part of their Sonoma County Tasting: Part 1, giving the Chalk Hill 2017 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay a 91+ point score and the Chalk Hill 2016 Estate Pinot Noir 91 points, respectively.

The iconic Sonoma County estate is no stranger to acclaims; from the 2015 Pinot Noir to the 2015 Estate Red, Chalk Hill has a storied history of recognition from leading wine publications (you can see some of their most popular acclaimed wines here).

Here is what editors had to say about the two vintages that were recognized:

Chalk Hill 2017 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay – 91+ pts

“The 2017 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is scented of lemon confit, Greek yogurt, honey toast, toasted almonds and stone over ripe red apple and white stone fruits. Medium-bodied, it offers pretty savory/honeyed fruits with refreshing acidity and a long finish packed with honey-nut flavors.”

Chalk Hill 2016 Estate Pinot Noir – 91 pts

“The 2016 Pinot Noir Russian River is medium ruby-purple with a nose of crunchy red fruits: fresh cranberry, Bing cherry, pomegranate liqueur and nuances of blackberry and black cherry plus notions of charcuterie, herbs and earth. Medium-bodied, it's very silky with spicy/herbal black fruits in the mouth and slightly gripping tannins with a concentrated finish.”

The 2017 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay can be purchased at a retailer near you, and the 2016 Estate Pinot Noir is currently available in the Foley Food & Wine Society online wine shop.
