Swarming with notes of blackberries, baking spices, and toasted oak. On the palate you will find complementary flavors of black fruits, tobacco, clove, and anise with a nice long finish.

Our 2012 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is predominately Cabernet (85%) with small amounts of Merlot that provided added flavors and helps round out the wine. The nose is swarming with notes of blackberries, baking spices, and toasted oak. On the palate you will find complimentary flavors of black fruits, tobacco, clove, and anise with a nice long finish.
Ratings
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast. From two estate vineyards, this wine is sleepy and subdued at first. Gradually warming in the glass, it becomes velvety and concentrated in black and red fruit, with dashes of clove and oak filling in the full-bodied palate. Structured and approachable, it also has a lengthy finish. —V.B.
Winemaker Notes
Vintage 2012 was considered ‘perfect’ by the prognosticators as soon as the last grapes were making their way to the wineries. It was perfect in the sense that quality and quantity benefited both grower and winemaker. The weather cooperated throughout all critical parts of the growing season to produce beautifully ripe and flavorful fruit.
Food Pairing Notes
This full bodied Cabernet has great balance and structure and is a perfect wine to pair with your favorite Italian dish or a nice grilled filet mignon.

Production Notes
The Foley Johnson Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is grown at two different vineyards on the estate. The Peral Vineyard which lies southeast of the Main Vineyard has heavier soils with small amounts of gravel. The Main vineyard is on loamy soils of gravel, clay, and sand which helps provide ample drainage and lessen the vigor of foliage growth. These ideal growing conditions allow our Bordeaux varietals to reach full maturity on the vine without taking on the green leafy taste of under-ripened fruit. The grapes were hand harvested from September 19 through October 19, 2012 under clear night skies. The wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation and was racked four times throughout the barreling process. After 19 months of aging in new and used French Oak barrels (35% new) the wine was bottled July 16th, 2014.
