Vineyard Notes
Perched atop the sprawling 23,000 acre Langtry Estate is the Tephra Ridge Vineyard, 35 acres of hillside perfection. In the northern foothill of Howell Mountain, the vineyard is planted to the Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The compacted ash soils provided by the adjacent Mount St. Helena allows for ample drainage and vine balance, which is desirable for the growth of premium, high quality grapes. Due to the rise in elevation, nearly 2,000 ft., we enjoy cool spring and summer days, which extend the growing season.
