Mouthwatering aromas of black currant and raspberry dominate the nose with flavors of blackberry, vanilla and sweet wood. Pleasing backbone and tannin structure which give way to a lingering finish.

Winemaker Notes
This is the inaugural vintage of our Santa Ynez Valley Grenache. Mouthwatering aromas of black currant and raspberry dominate the nose with flavors of blackberry, vanilla and sweet wood. Lighter on the palate than a Syrah, this Grenache has pleasing backbone and tannin structure which give way to a lingering finish.

Production Notes
After several years of cooler-than-average growing seasons, 2013 was one of the driest on record for the Santa Ynez Valley. A very warm end to summer and start to fall spurred an early harvest, but the fruit came in looking gorgeous nonetheless. Yields were average to slightly above and all of the brilliant flavor characteristics the region is known for are beautifully intact.
Vineyard Notes
Over the past two decades the Santa Ynez Valley has emerged as one of the most celebrated winegrowing regions in California. Formed by the Purisima Hills and San Rafael Mountains to the north and the Santa Ynez Mountains to the south, it is the largest AVA in Santa Barbara County. The cool, western portion of the Santa Ynez Valley is well suited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the warmer eastern section is home to aromatic whites such as Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache, and Sauvignon Blanc as well as bold reds including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
