Captivating aromas and flavors of black cherries, violets, sweet oak, cola and vanilla are complemented by soft tannins in this full-bodied Merlot.
The fruit for this Merlot comes from several vineyard blocks on our estate, each with a
unique soil structure, trellising style and microclimate. It is this diversity that allows us to
create an exceptional final wine. Captivating aromas and flavors of black cherries, violets,
sweet oak, cola and vanilla are complemented by soft tannins in this full-bodied Merlot.
Food Pairing Notes
2013 MERLOT, SANTA YNEZ VALLEY Paired with Garlic & Rosemary Crusted Rack of Lamb, Goat Cheese Polenta, Roasted Brussel Sprouts.
This Merlot is a truly amazing composite of black berries and dark cherries
alongside high floral tones. The Garlic & Rosemary Crusted Rack of Lamb fuses
brilliantly with the wine’s notes of cocoa, wet tobacco and vanilla. The elevated
fruit notes & delicate touches of dried herbs compliment the Goat Cheese Polenta
and Roasted Brussel Sprouts.

The 2013 growing season was one of the most amazing we have seen in the last several
years. Despite modest rainfall, the timing of the fruit development was ideal. Bud break
began in the second week of March and a warm spring led to slightly earlier bloom and
fruit set. A typical sunny Santa Ynez summer allowed for optimal staggered ripening of
each varietal and we experienced a harvest lasting nearly 3 months.
The Santa Ynez Valley is located just two hours north of Los Angeles and five hours
south of San Francisco, adjacent the cold Pacific Ocean. With the greatest concentration
of wineries in Santa Barbara County - roughly 18% of its total land planted to vineyards -
it is among the favorite weekend destinations for wine aficionados in the Central Coast
