Ratings
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast. Soft notes of lime, yellow pear and slightly browned butter show on the nose of this bottling from Bill Foley, who produces nearly one dozen Chardonnays under this label. It's light, easy and yet complex on the sip, with stone fruit, citrus-pith grip, butter crust and apple-blossom flavors. - MK

Production Notes
Barrel Select is the ultimate expression of cool-climate Chardonnay from our Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard. Like a vinous jigsaw puzzle, it is an intricate assemblage of the most complex and concentrated fruit from the vintage. Following harvest, the grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed and transferred to tank. The fruit was racked into 100% new French and Hungarian oak barrels where it underwent weekly stirring of the lees to add texture and complexity. After 18 months of aging, the wine was bottled.
Vineyard Notes
2013 was an abundant vintage with mild rain during the first part of spring and only a few incidents of frost before bud break. With no heat waves of consequence, this was a very moderate growing season. Conditions remained ideal from bloom to set with the typical foggy mornings and afternoon winds that sweep through the Sta. Rita Hills. The yields were high in quality and quantity, emulating the 2012 vintage, with harvest lasting from September 5th – November 5th, 2013.
