Rich and refined. A melting pot of yellow peach, apple, vanilla and clove. The palate is full-bodied and smooth while freshened by a bright acidity.

Winemaker Notes
The 2014 Handmade Chardonnay from Chalk Hill is rich and refined. The nose is a melting pot of yellow peach, apple, vanilla and clove. The palate is full-bodied and smooth while freshened by a bright acidity. Its flavors are equally rich with peach, baked apple, and cream that meld together with exotic vanilla and cloves on the finish.

Production Notes
Produced by guest winemaker Steve Nelson, this wine features fruit from two special blocks in the Chalk Hill Estate Vineyard in Sonoma County. The wine is composed of Clone 97 and Clone 17, a unique selection that was isolated from old vines on the estate. The juice was fermented with native yeast and aged in French oak barrels (75% new) for 16 months. Full malolactic fermentation and regular lees stirring brought additional richness to the palate. The wine was bottled unfiltered to preserve texture and fruit integrity.
Vineyard Notes
2014 was a prime year in the Chalk Hill AVA of Sonoma County, giving us wines of both finesse and concentration. We brought in a bountiful crop of very tasty fruit. The Chardonnay reached full maturity - just around 3.8 tons per acre- and was hand harvested on September 17, 2014 in the cool morning hours.
