Winemaker Notes
This 2014 Annie Dyer Pinot Noir showcases dark fruit tones and heavy oak notes. Intense aromatics of raspberry and black cherry cola leap from the glass followed by a slightly sweet palate with hints of blackberries and cream. This wine has a round, lush mouthfeel supported by bold tannins, leading into a finish of cassis, pomegranate and black pepper.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine is bold and complex and pairs nicely with a juicy, hearty steak. “Love this deep bold Pinot with smoke and baking spice notes; amazing young blackberries with creamy vanilla lends itself to Shabu Shabu- thin sliced rib eye glazing in boiling water with root vegetables. The deep berry notes intensifies the rich luscious meat and the spice and herbal dr aw definitely is a success with the vegetables.” – Robert Smith, Master Sommelier

Production Notes
The 2014 vintage was another solid year in the Sta. Rita Hills. It was our third consecutive abundant vintage with high quality fruit and large yields. As the earliest bud break on record in the region and with such a warm growing season, this was also the earliest harvest to date. Conditions remained ideal from bloom to set only minimally burdened by the typical afternoon winds that sweep through Sta. Rita Hills. As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, the Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard is one of Santa Barbara’s most historic properties. This beautiful south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. This wine features Pinot Noir clones 667 and Pommard. After harvest, the fruit was cold soaked for four days and then fermented in open tops with regular punch downs to extract maximum color and flavor. It was aged in 100% French oak barrels (60% new) for 18 months.
