Winemaker Notes
The 2014 Courtney's Chardonnay draws you in with delicate aromas of orange blossom, clover honey, and tart green apple. On the palate the concrete vessel contributes to great textural depth and minerality accented by pineapple, vanilla wafer, and hazelnut flavors. Acidic yet sweet lemon flavors linger on the finish with faint notes of fresh white peach.

Production Notes
As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, Rancho Santa Rosa is one of Santa Barbara’s most historic properties. This beautiful south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. The grapes were gently wholecluster pressed and transferred to juice tank after harvest. Next, after a day of cold-settling, the juice was racked to neutral French oak barrels and a concrete vessel. It was then then fermented using native yeast and bacteria for primary and secondary fermentation. With intention, no new oak was applied to the wine in order to highlight the fruit, terroir, and concrete vessel. After 18 months of aging sur lie in French oak barrels and concrete, the wine was blended and bottled.
Vineyard Notes
Rancho Santa Rosa - Courtney's. The 2014 vintage was another solid year in the Sta. Rita Hills. It was our third consecutive abundant vintage with high quality fruit and large yields. With the earliest bud break on record and such a warm growing season, this was the earliest harvest to date. Conditions remained ideal from bloom to set only minimally burdened by the typical afternoon winds that sweep through Sta. Rita Hills.
