Year after year, Patrick’s Vineyard accounts for some of the finest Chardonnay in our cellar; Our richest and most
unctuous style from this vineyard.

Winemaker Notes
Year after year, Patrick’s Vineyard accounts for some of the finest Chardonnay in our cellar. This 2014 has aromas of hazelnut and toasted almond with a nice level of oak in the background to showcase the vineyard’s unique flavors. The flavor is rich and full bodied, displaying flavors of ripe stone fruits including apricot, white peach, and pear. The finish has lingering hazelnut and ripe apricot. Our richest and most unctuous style from this vineyard. - Mark R. Lyon, Winemaker

Production Notes
2014 started several days sooner due to warmer spring weather. Summer was normal and veraison started by mid-July. August was dry, making smaller clusters and in general lower yields. Even ripening was observed and all grapes were hand harvested nearly a month earlier than the previous year on September 14th through September 17th, 2014. After hand picking and whole-cluster pressing, the two different clonal lots were barrel fermented and aged sur lie in Francois Freres French oak (50% new). Aggressive stirring enhanced the aromatics, texture and flavors. We went through an initial barrel selection process to identify superior lots. We then did a second barrel selection to create the best possible final blend. It was barrel aged for 16 months prior to bottling.
Vineyard Notes
Patrick’s Vineyard is named after owner Bill Foley’s son. It is an exposed, rolling site in lower Carneros, close to San Pablo Bay. The cool, foggy, windy climate and marine soils at Patrick’s are ideal for full-bodied, well-structured Chardonnay. The vineyard is planted to three excellent, low-production clones: #6, #17 (better known as the Robert Young Selection), and #38. The grapes are grown on a divided canopy to increase sun exposure resulting in more “yellow fruit” as opposed to green flavors. This is consistently Sebastiani’s best vineyard for Chardonnay.
