Winemaker Notes
Our 2014 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel offers depth and bright flavors. Scents of cranberry, raspberry, white pepper and black tea come to mind, indicative of Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. Concentrated raspberry flavors with sweet and lush red fruit notes are at the forefront on the palate. The French and Hungarian oak barrels contribute to its complex, forest floor-like flavors. The finish is soft with lingering brambly fruit and rustic characteristics. It is to be drunk in its youth, but will age nicely for about three-five years. - David Nakaji, Winemaker

Production Notes
2014 was an excellent vintage in Dry Creek Valley! The warmer, drier growing season produced fruit with wonderful concentration. The fruit hung on the vines longer than average where it developed ripe, rich berry flavors such as raspberry and bramble fruit. We harvested the fruit on the early side to achieve a more pure, classic Zinfandel. After harvest, the fruit was cold soaked to enhance the color and flavor while avoiding harsh tannins. The individual lots were racked once and put into a combination of new Gamba French oak (40%), and one- and two-year-old Hungarian oak barrels for 11 months. The wine was bottled in January 2016.
Vineyard Notes
The Dry Creek Valley is home to some of California’s most definitive Zinfandel. The gently sloping hills, terra rossa soil, and mild climate make it the perfect locale for this varietal. Our 2014 Zinfandel was sourced from the Bumble Bee Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. It is grown close to the town of Healdsburg in a cool location. The final blend includes a small portion of Malbec (7.5%) and Petite Sirah (5.5%) for additional color, structure and aromatics.
