Rich and complex, with an array of layers unveiled as it opens. Aromatics of baked black cherry cobbler with hints of spicy rooibos tea evolve into flavors dried cranberries and cherries.

Winemaker Notes
Our 2015 Annie Dyer Pinot Noir is made to be rich and complex, with an array of layers unveiled as it opens. Aromatics of baked black cherry cobbler with hints of spicy rooibos tea evolve into flavors dried cranberries and cherries. The palate finishes with lingering notes of gritty pomegranate juice, pepper and oak tones reminiscent of roasted coffee and cacao.

Production Notes
As part of the original Spanish Land Grant, the Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard is one of Santa Barbara’s most historic properties. This beautiful south-facing hillside climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. This wine features Pinot Noir clones 667 and Pommard. After harvest, the fruit was cold soaked for four days and then fermented in open tops with regular punch downs to extract maximum color and flavor. It was aged in 100% French oak barrels.
Vineyard Notes
The 2015 vintage experienced above average temperatures and no hard dormancy. This resulted in early bud break followed by a cooling period which created a lull in flowering and set, especially in the lower elevation blocks. The grapes were high in quality with lower than average yields, however. The fruit had smaller berry size, cluster size and weight which ultimately translated into intense flavor concentration. As a result, the 2015 vintage is rich, complex, and intense in character.
