Fruit forward aromatics of ripe raspberries and cherry cola that transition into a medley of dark blackberry, pomegranate and black pepper on the palate. A nice tannin structure.

Winemaker Notes
As the flagship Pinot Noir from Lincourt, our Rancho Santa Rosa bottling embodies the essence of the cool climate Sta. Rita Hills. This 2015 displays fruit forward aromatics of ripe raspberries and cherry cola that transition into a medley of dark blackberry, pomegranate and black pepper on the palate. A nice tannin structure provided by the Hungarian oak aging is complemented by a hint of vanilla from the French oak.
Food Pairing Notes
This is an easy drinking, mouthwatering wine perfect for parmesan and sausage stuffed mushrooms.

Production Notes
This Pinot Noir came from our estate Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. The fruit was hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard prior to arrival at the winery. The clusters were then carefully destemmed to keep the berries intact. Additional hand sorting removed any jack stems before the fruit was transferred to small, stainless steel, open-top fermenters. The juice and skins were cold–soaked for four days prior to fermentation and then gently punched down for several days. After primary fermentation was complete, the new wine was drained and the skins were gently pressed. This Pinot was barrel-aged in 25% new French and Hungarian oak for 10 months.
Vineyard Notes
The 2015 vintage experienced above average temperatures and no hard dormancy. This resulted in early bud break followed by a cooling period which created a lull in flowering and set, especially in the lower elevation blocks. The grapes were high in quality with lower than average yields. The fruit had smaller berry size, cluster size and weight which ultimately translated into intense flavor concentration. As a result, the 2015 vintage is rich, complex, and intense in character.
