Mouthwatering scents of watermelon, citrus and kiwi. A delightful acidity with good weight and texture. Enjoy alone as an aperitif or stand up to a cold sweet potato, feta and hazelnut salad.

Winemaker Notes
Our 2015 Eye of the Swan is a rosy pink hue with mouthwatering scents of watermelon, citrus and kiwi. A delightful acidity leads into strawberry shortcake, red cherry, and cotton candy flavors on the palate. This Rosé delivers good weight and texture, and can be enjoyed alone as an aperitif or stand up to a cold sweet potato, feta and hazelnut salad. A wonderful summer wine! - David Nakaji, Winemaker

Production Notes
2015 was a prolific vintage in the Santa Ynez Valley with above average temperatures and no hard dormancy. An early bud break was followed by a cooling period which created a lull in flowering and set. The grapes were high in quality with lower than average yields. The fruit had smaller berry size, cluster size and weight which ultimately translated into intense flavor concentration. As a result, the 2015 vintage produced rich, complex wines that are intense in character. The grapes were harvested between August 19 and October 1, 2015. The unusual combination of Grenache and Grüner Veltliner yields an incredibly aromatic, lusciously rich vin gris. The Grenache was hand-picked in two stages about 10 days apart then destemmed and cold soaked 24 hours prior to pressing to stainless steel tanks where it was cold settled for another 24 hours then racked to stainless steel to commence primary fermentation. The Grüner Veltliner was hand-picked and fermented separately in stainless steel and then blended with the Grenache upon completion.
Vineyard Notes
The Grenache portion of our 2015 Eye of the Swan came from a lovely hillside vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley region of Santa Barbara County. The Grüner Veltliner came from the Rancho Santa Rosa vineyard in the cool Sta. Rita Hills AVA. The cool, maritime climates of these vineyard sites highlight the character of the Grenache and Grüner Veltliner.
