Our 2015 Robert’s Vineyard Pinot Noir showcases the Carneros vineyards remarkably. An earthy profile is complemented by fragrant aromas of tart cherry, cloves, and a hint of sandalwood. Elegant in style, this medium-bodied Pinot Noir displays flavors of Bing cherry, cloves, forest floor, roasted coffee and light floral notes. A lively acidity integrates well to support both the tannins and the lingering finish of cherry and spice.

Production Notes
2015 was a fantastic vintage producing high quality fruit. It began with an earlier than average budbreak, and an intense, compacted harvest beginning earlier than average as well. The high temperatures in August and early September accelerated maturity and picking times. The Pommard block benefited from the long warm season and exhibited sweet fruit and delicate aromatics compared to previous vintages. We harvested the grapes August 25 - September 2, 2015. All lots were de-stemmed gently to preserve the whole berries. We cold soaked for an average of three days before inoculation. During fermentation, the wine was pumped over its skins two to three times a day with maceration lasting 11-13 days. Press fractions were kept separate and fined to remove any harsh or raisin-like flavors. Each lot was then transferred into new and one-year-old oak barrels and aged on light lees until bottling.
Vineyard Notes
Robert’s Vineyard is located in the cool, windy Carneros AVA at the southern end of Sonoma County. The site features gently rolling hills and unfettered exposure to the morning fog and strong afternoon breezes that help define the region. Our 2015 combines fruit from the two finest blocks on the property. The final blend is composed of 55% Clone #4 (Pommard), 42% Clone 115, and 3% Clone 32.
