Production Notes
Our goal with this wine was to capture the essence of the variety and the sites, maintain freshness and avoid any hints of oxidation. We harvested all of the grapes at nighttime to ensure cold fruit at the time of pressing. The must was fermented at cold temperatures in stainless steel tanks with specific yeast strains selected to heighten the inherent aromatics.
Vineyard Notes
This refreshing Sauvignon Blanc comes from our best vineyard sites within the Guenoc Valley appellation in Lake County and the Russian River Valley appellation in Sonoma County. The majority of the fruit comes from Lake County’s Guenoc Valley where volcanic, rocky soils and daily temperature swings deliver concentrated flavors and distinct varietal character. The remainder is from an exposed, windy parcel in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. The result is a synergy of intense flavors and distinct minerality. 2015 was an exceptional vintage across the board! It began with an earlier than average bud break and warm temperatures throughout spring and summer. The warm growing season accelerated maturity and picking times, bringing intense flavors to the forefront. The berry sizes were smaller than average, thus having exceptional concentration and quality. We harvested all of the fruit from August 13 – September 13, 2015.
