Winemaker Notes
Our 2016 Clone 378 Sauvignon Blanc is composed of 100% Sauvignon Blanc fruit from the Russian River Valley. Light golden in color, this wine begins with guava, nectarine, lemon and floral aromas. The oak aging adds texture and depth to the palate. Lively flavors of grapefruit zest, peach and lime are accented by a touch of sweetness. A nice acidity and wet stone minerality linger on the refreshing finish. - David Nakaji, Winemaker

Production Notes
2016 was a prime vintage producing high quality fruit. Overall the season was earlier than average with moderate temperatures which allowed for even ripening and balanced flavors. This helped to reach our goal to produce a crisper, fresher style. We harvested all of the Sauvignon Blanc on the evening of September 1st, 2016. The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was harvested at nighttime to ensure cold fruit at the time of pressing. Harvesting took place on September 1st, 2016. To maintain freshness and preserve the distinct characteristics of the varietal, we minimized exposure to the air, aiming to create a crisper, fresher style. The Sauvignon Blanc was aged in oak barrels for 7 months prior to bottling.
Vineyard Notes
Known for its cool, foggy climate and rocky, volcanic soils, the Russian River Valley produces an extraordinary range of Burgundian varietals. This Sauvignon Blanc comes from the northeastern corner of the Russian River Valley, the Chalk Hill AVA. The complexity of the terroir, diverse climates and soils provide a bit of grassiness and great fruit concentration to the wine.
