2016 – Solo Cabernet Sauvignon

In 1968, Harry See planted the Silverado Vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon. Over the next two decades with careful vine selection and cultivation, the Silverado Clone emerged becoming the only Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon designated as a “Heritage Clone”, by the University of California, Davis. Each year, we honor this select clone designation with SOLO.

Vintage Notes

The near-perfect 2016 growing season started early, saw ideal weather conditions throughout and wrapped up as the valley’s first significant fall rainstorm arrived on October 14. Thanks to a relatively steady and mild July and August and then a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, vineyards were able to progress to perfect ripeness.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of black cassis, layers of black tea, earth, and a touch of dark baking chocolate. Dense, refined tannins provide a velvety texture. The palate is full of mixed berries, dark chocolate, Chai tea and a dusting of sweet graham cracker crumbles await you on the finish.
