Indulge in the rich, earthy flavors of this gourmet truffle mushroom pizza—bringing the essence of Italian countryside dining right to your table. What elevates it from a homemade favorite to a restaurant-worthy masterpiece? A drizzle of luxurious truffle oil, adding depth and decadence to every bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 8 oz sliced button mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 12-inch pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp truffle oil
  • Optional: fresh truffle

Directions

Preheat: Place a pizza stone (if you have one) in the oven. Preheat oven and pan to 500°F (260°C).

Cook Mushrooms: In a large sauté pan, heat 1 Tbsp of the oil over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and garlic, cooking until mushrooms sweat out their moisture and begin to turn golden brown and crispy, about 10 minutes.

Assemble: Roll out pizza dough onto parchment paper, brushing the top with remaining 1 Tbsp of oil. Sprinkle with cheeses, then top with your cooked mushrooms. Carefully slide the parchment paper and pizza onto your preheated pizza pan, then bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.

Serve: Drizzle truffle oil over pizza right before serving, optionally topping with thinly grated fresh truffle.

Notes

For an extra crispy bottom, sprinkle your parchment paper with cornmeal before rolling out the dough.

What type of truffles are best for pizza?

When it comes to black vs. white truffles, black tends to have a more intense flavor, while white truffles are a bit subdued. Certain dishes, therefore, work better with white or black, depending on the ingredients!
